We started staying at the cabin in April this year. The weather was perfect and we completed a lot of re-furbishing projects. The old deck was completely collapsed from the heavy winter snows, but Benjamin Rogers saved the day by re-building the entire deck, adding a new lower seat/step and a new section of fence. Matt Cherry and Kade Simmons spent a couple of days with their chain saws and cleaned up a lot of dead timber. We resurfaced the driveway with two giant dump truck loads of fresh gravel. We added a parking area for the former teen cabin, which is now my “East Zion Studio.” Yep, it has a new sign and a nice painting area in the front room, but the four bunks and king size bed are still there and usable by everyone. We re-painted the main cabin and the studio cabin. Thanks to Derick and Hannah who did lots of expert painting, assisted by Clara. Trish and Robert Eves added their painting expertise to the main cabin. We cleaned up the flag and bear circle in front and bought a new flag. The weather takes its toll on the cabin, but it is in better condition than ever thanks to everyone’s help.
